NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course
(Phase II of Blended Learning)
4 hours / 200 rounds per handgun
One-on-One Private Lesson: $250
Private Small Group (2-6 participants): $150 per student
This course is geared towards those who are new to pistol shooting, or those familiar with handguns but desiring structured training on the fundamentals.
This course is offered in two versions; the traditional Instructor-Led version (for those who prefer to conduct the training in-person with an instructor), or a Blended Learning version (e-learning at home, plus a follow-on range session with an instructor). Both cover the same material, and you can sign up for whichever version fits your individual learning style.
This page if for the Blended Learning version. This version consists of two Phases: Phase I is self-paced, on-line instruction through the NRA website; Phase II is the actual range portion following the completion of your on-line training. You will need to register & complete the Phase I portion prior to conducting the Phase II hands-on range portion.
Of note, the course fee's for Phase I go directly to the NRA; the Phase II portion is based on whatever the local market will support & is set by each individual instructor. My rate is likely higher than most in the Central Texas area, however keep in mind I only conduct one-on-one instruction in a private session, on a private range that keeps things safe & distraction free, with lots of hands-on practice that you may not get elsewhere (couples & small group classes on request). I train you to achieve your goals rather than to a time standard.
I do not have loaner pistols for rent, so you will need to provide your own. If you don't own your own handgun(s) yet, we can find a time to meet at a local gun store in the South Austin area where I can show you how to find one that fits your grip size appropriately.
