NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course
(Instructor-Led)
8 hours / 200 rounds per handgun
One-on-One Private Lesson: $340
Private Small Group (2-6 participants): $240 per student
This course is geared towards those who are new to pistol shooting, or those familiar with handguns but desiring structured training on the fundamentals.
This course is offered in two versions; the traditional Instructor-Led version (for those who prefer to conduct the training in-person with an instructor, stay on this page), or a Blended Learning version (e-learning at home, plus a follow-on range session with an instructor). Both cover the same material, and you can sign up for whichever version fits your individual learning style.
This page covers the Instructor-Led version. We will begin the training in the classroom learning about handgun safety, the features & characteristics of both revolvers and semi-auto handguns, and lots of hands-on practice with the fundamentals. We will then move to the range portion to put into practice the things already learned in the classroom.
Of note, my rate is likely higher than most in the Central Texas area, however keep in mind I only conduct one-on-one instruction in a private session, on a private range that keeps things safe & distraction free, with lots of hands-on practice that you may not get elsewhere (couples & small group classes on request). I train you to achieve your goals rather than to a time standard.
I do not have loaner pistols for rent, so you will need to provide your own. If you don't own your own handgun(s) yet, we can find a time to meet at a local gun store in the South Austin area where I can show you how to find one that fits your grip size appropriately.
